AGP Application

AGP President, Arlan Rippe, explains the purpose of the Academy to attendees of Earth Retention 2010.

Application Information

Application Procedure

Applications for certification within the specialty fields of the Geo-Profession shall be made on forms provided by the Secretary/Treasurer and shall be wholly completed and fully documented as required therein.

Application Process

The applicant shall submit a complete application, together with all fees and supporting documentation as required, including written recommendations endorsing the application from three of his or her peers who possess a valid license to practice professional engineering recognized by a State, Territory, or District of the United States. At least one of the recommendations shall be from a Diplomate, Geotechnical Engineering (D.GE) in the same specialty field of the Geo-Profession. The requirement to have a D.GE recommendation is currently being waived until there is a sufficient number of Diplomates.

A certified person, except an Honorary Member, does not become a Diplomate of AGP until that individual has paid all required fees, has been approved by AGP's Board of Trustees, and has been notified in writing by the Secretary/Treasurer, all as prescribed by the Board of Trustees.

Certification Fees

Application Fee

All applicants must submit a check, money order or payment by credit card for $300 with their completed application. This fee covers program expenses including application review, interviews, record keeping, issuance of a D.GE Certificate, and $150 for first year's dues.

Applicants who are denied certification and wish to reapply to the Academy must pay all fees.

Biennial Fee

The biennial fee shall be payable every two years in advance of the first day of June. All fees shall be paid in United States dollars by check or money order drawn on a United States bank or online with a valid credit card. Diplomates will receive a renewal form in April one year after the AGP Board's issuance of their certification, then every two years thereafter. Those inducted in the fall would essentially pay 1 1/2 years after they are awarded the certification and every two years thereafter. The renewal form will require that the Diplomate:

  • attest to their continued active engagement in the practice of geo-professional engineering,
  • attest to their continued possession of a valid license to practice engineering,
  • attest to earning 40 professional Development Hours (PDHs) during the preceding 2 year period (including 4 hours in ethics and starting for renewals in 2011, 2 hours in sustainability),
  • attest to adherence to the Academy Code of Ethics, and
  • submit a biennial fee

The biennial fee is set by the AGP Board of Trustees and is currently $300.
